Here at I-SITE, we are constantly looking for ways to be green in our office with recycling and energy conservation. So when a project came along that involves social responsibility and beer how could we say no!
Designers of sustainable products MIO and The Trestle Inn, owned by our CEO Ian Cross, recently teamed up to create WE CAN, an on-going campaign that uses smart design to inspire upcycled solutions to aluminum can waste and create healthier and more vibrant communities.
The maiden project, A Pop-Up Beer Can Garden, is a playful tongue-in-cheek response to the many “pop up” beer gardens which have recently proliferated around Philadelphia. Taking place during DesignPhiladelphia’s signature Pearl Street Passage event from October 8th to 11th, visitors to The Trestle Inn helped transform a grey slice of sidewalk on Callowhill Street into a green oasis by repurposing their empty beer cans into hydroponic planters.
I-SITE was asked to design the WE CAN brand, a poster and promos for the bar, and the microsite. It was agreed the brand should be inspiring and illustrative, so the team came up with a beer can featuring the WE CAN logo and the name of this year’s project. The WE CAN beer can is the focal point all the online and offline media.
The one page scolling website was developed in WordPress and features Instagram and Twitter integration to encourage the public to follow the project and get involved by sharing their own ideas for aluminum can upcycling.
