A few of us here are sad Temple got bounced in the first round for the third straight year. Ok it’s just me that’s upset but I’m hoping this mix will help. Enjoy and get out this weekend!

Skills
Project management, enforcer, brewmaster…

Project most proud of? – I would have to say the iGorilla iPhone app or the Effort-less site. Both were extremely complicated, new and fairly large projects – and we were able to deliver within budget. iGorilla was not completed within the original timeframe but it was a first for us and we had to deal with Apple so just getting it approved by them is a feat in itself. Of course our client Virunga National Park is also located in the Democratic Republic of Congo!

Favorite software? As far as work goes it has to be Basecamp or Google Docs. Both are so simple for collaboration and getting the job done. You don’t need to get complicated when working with others and once I got the I-SITE crew onboard with both we really enjoyed the process. Our clients also find them really easy to use and I have found it speeds up all of our projects.

Wheels? I have a late 80’s Bianchi that gets me around. It’s one of those ugly teal bikes you see now and then but I like it a lot.

Favorite iPhone App? – I would like to say iGorilla, the one we just got approved. But honestly I use Sportacular all the time as I love all Philly Sports and need my daily fix. I’m a gamer but nothing has kept me interested long enough when it comes to iPhone games. I’m waiting on Street Fighter 4 so maybe that will be the one.

What makes the perfect client? – One that gives me a challenge and enjoys the process as much as I do. Even if they don’t understand what goes into creating a website or an online marketing campaign I enjoy clients who want to learn and respect our experience and knowledge. If you trust us to do our job your product will only be that much better.

Favorite All Tomorrow’s Parties moment? That’s hard because the whole event is great. Something any music fan needs to attend at least once. I would say getting to see Shellac and eating the awesome spinach pies at the food stands.

Future Technology Prediction – Stuff that floats, really. If I drop my iPhone I want it to hover above the ground. It’s 2010!!

I-SITE on the ball with new Flash Game

purdue-blog

The I-SITE team loves a good game of soccer. Luckily our last match was won in regulation so no need for a penalty shoot out.

To help prepare for the next contest the I-SITE team developed a Flash game that will pit your team against best friends or mortal enemies in a shoot out that requires brains as well as brawn. The game system allows the client to populate the game with a series of questions that both teams then answer. Every few questions players have an opportunity to shoot and score.

The game has already been compiled as an Adobe AIR application and used for software training – so give us a shout to see how you can score with a custom I-SITE game.

Ciaran Bellwoar elected President of region’s Healthcare Businesswoman Association Chapter

ciaran-hba

From volunteer to chapter President in 3 years. Ciaran has taken the fast track to leadership in one of the area’s most dynamic and fast growing associations. We’re not surprised – she’s applied those qualities at I-SITE developing new healthcare business while raising 3 kids and never missing an I-SITE music festival retreat.

Ciaran has already laid out an exciting 2010 with membership projected to break the 1,000 barrier. In October Philly will host the annual HBA Leadership Conference and she’ll continue to work with her talented Board of Directors to strengthen the programming that has made membership and involvement grow so quickly. One note: men are also welcome!

Contact Ciaran to find out more about HBA and her work at I-SITE.

Effort-less Birdfeeder Website Launch

effortless-blog

I-SITE teamed up with the inventors of the Effort-less Birdfeeder to create an e-commerce website that shows off this exciting new product.

Showing is better than telling so I-SITE worked with video producers Human+Nature to create a home page demo of the birdfeeder with QVC spokesperson and on air guest Bitsy Jennings. The home page also features clear call-to-actions to the following features:

• Product page with specs, picture gallery and testimonial videos
• Store Locator with Google Map integration
• Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter
• Shopping Cart

The site was developed with leading e-commerce software Magento and partner Round3 Media. I-SITE also worked with RedStapler Consulting on Web 2.0 integration.

Since launch in late January the site has already been recognized with 5 stars in the eCommerce Gallery.

The Art of the Steal

This Friday the I-SITE gang is going to see The Art of the Steal, a film by Don Argott who just so happens to be in the band Serpent Throne with our own Sean Paul Fenton and the film’s editor Demian Fenton. But enough about us, it’s all about this film and how excited we are for it. It’s been getting rave reviews, including a standing ovation at the Toronto Film Fest. Below is a description of the film and a link to the trailer. Go see this and support the locals.

theartofthesteal_l201001251341
“An un-missable look at one of the art world’s most fascinating controversies and a celebrated selection of the Toronto, New York and AFI Film Festivals, Don Argott’s gripping documentary THE ART OF THE STEAL chronicles the long and dramatic struggle for control of the Barnes Foundation, a private collection of art valued at more than $25 billion. In 1922, Dr. Albert C. Barnes formed a remarkable educational institution around his priceless collection of art, located just five miles outside of Philadelphia. Now, more than 50 years after Barnes’ death, a powerful group of moneyed interests have gone to court for control of the art, and intend to bring it to a new museum in Philadelphia. Standing in their way is a group of Barnes’ former students and his will, which contains strict instructions stating the Foundation should always be an educational institution, and that the paintings may never be removed. Will they succeed, or will a man’s will be broken and one of America’s greatest cultural monuments be destroyed?” – Apple

I-SITE PRESENTS MUSIC MIX VOL.6

dark_quarterer

Dark Quarterer

I-Site still allowed me to hold the reigns of the current I-Site radio playlist. Though staying true to form as “the guy that only likes stuff from the 70s”, I’ve made a quantum leap all the way to the 80s for a quick stint with Sonic Youth. The remainder though, are all healthy representations of what I like to call “blues after the crossroads”, starting with the spellcaster himself Howlin Wolf. If you pay enough attention, you can trace the descent into the synthesized chaos of Delia Derbyshire, whom bookends the mix quite nicely. Have fun. One only needs to reference the singer from Dark Quarterer to understand the quote “that nerd’s got pipes”. – Sean Fenton
