Biking Mad for Hipster City Cycle

We love biking on the streets of Philly so are thrilled at the release of local game developer Port127’s Hipster City Cycle. Love the 8 bit graphics, subtle humour highlighting some of our most loveable landmarks and fact that fellow TEDxPhilly organizer Michael Highland is behind the game. Michael we miss seeing you hanging at Cafe Olé.

I-SITE launches new destination website for Lower Manhattan

I-SITE teamed up with the Alliance for Downtown New York to design and develop a new website for visitors, residents and businesses in Lower Manhattan.

Lower Manhattan is home to many of New York’s most popular attractions including South Street Seaport, Battery Park, Ground Zero and of course Wall Street. The site uses in-depth search, maps and events to keep the public up-to-date with everything happening in this dynamic section of New York.

Built on a Drupal CMS the website is also focused on attracting new residents and businesses. Over 8,400 businesses are located in the area south of City Hall and publishing giant Condé Nast recently signed an initial agreement to take one million square feet in One World Trade Center.

A number of the Downtown Alliance’s new programs are featured on the site including Free Public WI-FI spots, Food Tours and the recently opened co-working space Hive at 55.

Features of the site include:

  • Searchable maps, businesses and events
  • Events and listings updated daily
  • Event listing features such as what’s happening nearby and upcoming events
  • Map-based directions to and from any point in Lower Manhattan
  • Social Media integration for Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube

I-SITE is working with the Downtown Alliance on managing the site day-to-day and adding new features in the coming months.

So start planning your trip to Lower Manhattan at downtownny.com and contact us to discuss how the Web can help revitalize your city or neighborhood.

I-SITE wins Best Marketing Online Video at the Internet Advertising Competition

The I-SITE team continued the winning streak of high profile awards picking up Best Marketing Online Video for Holiday Confessionals at the annual IAC awards. The IAC Awards are produced by the Web Marketing Association to showcase the best in award winning Internet advertising.

The Holiday Confessionals video contains candid revelations about the trials and tribulations of holiday’s past from the I-SITE team and special guests to our Two Guys on Beer event last December. The seven-minute video was conceived by the I-SITE team and edited with help from Art of the Steal editor Demian Fenton. Human + Nature’s Rich Gretzinger manned the camera.

I-SITE mobile site goes live

I-SITE recently launched a new mobile site so you can keep up with our team and work while you’re on the go. The site is optimized for all smart phones and highlights featured projects, our Blog, a list of all that stuff we know and links to our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Of course if you’re going to design other people’s mobile websites you better have your own, right – it’s amazing how many interactive firms haven’t taken that step yet. It’s all part of staying at the front edge as mobile and tablet start taking center stage.

Check out our new mobile site on your phone today and take I-SITE with you wherever you go!

I-SITE Talks Trash with New Website

I-SITE teamed up with MYX: Multicultural Youth Exchange this April to build online awareness of their innovative Trash Tree project.  MYX’s goal with the project is to make young people [and older] think before they throw out items that can be reused.

I-SITE’s contribution was a dynamic one-page website with background on the project, video interviews, trash facts, downloads and a Twitter feed.

Designed to be fun and interactive the site is a platform for this ongoing project and will be updated with new videos, tweets and the news on where the tree will be sprouting up next. So don’t be a sap! Check out TrashTree.com and start your own waste awareness program in your office and home.

Trash Talk!

Here at I-SITE we don’t like to waste a line of computer code, so we jumped at the chance to create a website for the Multicultural Youth eXchange’s new project Trash Tree – A Waste Awareness Installation. We even had the trash tree planted by the I-Zone for a few days before it headed down to the 22nd Nation Service Learning Conference in Atlanta on April 6 with students from New Foundations Charter School.

We’re known for being well rooted in innovative design and development and decided that a one pager would be just perfect to share some striking facts about how we throw out perfectly good and usable stuff, a twitter feed for the kids and video shot before and during the installation in Atlanta.

Check out the website at trashtree.com and on NBC10 Philadelphia at 5:30 on April 18th – and don’t forget to talk trash with your friends and coworkers!

Opening our minds at TEDxPhilly

Last Thursday a few of us turned  off our iPhones and spent a day immersing ourselves in Right Here Right Now at the first TEDxPhilly. It was a very zen I-SITE.

We’d been looking forward to this since last summer when our friend and visionary Roz Duffy [she of BarCamp Philly and Ignite] first discussed the idea with Ian. At that time there had been about 60 TEDx events. A year later it’s up to 1,500 worldwide so why when everyone but their granny is having a TEDx should we care? Well we do because Philly is our town and we know that we have incredible people doing amazing things right here in our neighborhoods. The people in this creative community are part of our DNA and we all love to share that essential ingredient. It’s that open philosophy that has been transforming the way we work as a team and how we interact with our clients.

So we’re proud that we got involved and became a seed sponsor a few months ago to get this thing kicked off [soccer pun ;-]. Last Thursday we listened to photographer Zoe Strauss talk about her project under I-95 – you know that piece of highway that we should tear down. It was a very personal journey of passion and drive that took her from an idea to an extensive collection of striking photographs some with very heart wrenching stories. Jay Coen Gilbert talked about B Corps – the kind of responsible companies that we want to work with. And there were so many other compelling and interesting talks around art, data, education, youth empowerment, our Mutter Museum, film, architecture and one of our favorite topics “beer” courtesy of Bill Covaleski co-founder of Victory. There isn’t a day that goes by at I-SITE when we don’t thank Bill for bringing us Hop Devil and Storm King.

So here are a few favorite moments from yesterday. You’ll be able to watch these online soon at the TEDxPhilly Website.

Ciaran said “The session that gave me the biggest mind shift was Jay Coen Gilbert of B Corp. Jay transformed Capitalism from a dirty word into something we can all embrace to help advance our social missions”

Monica said ” I’d say Chris Lehmann inspired me the most. His approach of reaching children and changing what ‘school’ means was very refreshing. I either want to go back in time to go there or sign up my imaginary child. Great stuff.

Jon said “I liked Simon Hauger of the West Philly Hybrdid X Team the most – definitely the one that most inspired me.”

Ian said ” I loved Iyad Obeid, the Director of the Neural Instrumentation Laboratory at Temple University. He paralleled our brains with computers and created a vision of a world where will be able to control our world with the thought alone. Makes my head hurt in a good way!”

If you weren’t there you missed out! Ian also wants to give props to organizations in the community who joined us and supported this event – Cultural Alliance, Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Pennsylvania Economy League, Greater Camden Partnership and the Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy amongst others.

Finally we’re going to be exhibiting part of the TEDx stage prop in our office so stop by anytime to open your mind and of course a beer!
