I-SITE Welcomes Sean Paul Fenton!!!

Sean

We want to officially welcome the newest full-time member of the team!! Sean’s outlook on development is from a designer’s perspective. Coming from a design background, his philosophy is that of a symbiotic relationship between the look and the function of a website. Always looking for new inspiration, and always willing to learn, his fresh perspective is a welcomed addition to that creative pool we strive for at I-SITE. Oh and he’s pretty good at the Flash thing.  Here is a pic of Sean being initiated on the various foreign liquors we have in the office. Sean is also the drummer of the kick ass band Serpent Throne.

ABC’s of Mobile Technology

ABC's Of MobileWhat are some of the new and innovative ways your business can reach your consumers and target markets through mobile devices and a solid mobile strategy?   Topic experts

Jim Wolfe, Co-founder and CEO, J Street Consulting

Gary Ackerman, President and Co-Founder, M3Mobile

Det Ansinn, Chief Gaming Officer, Mobile Tag Company and 1337.pwn.com

Doug Bellenger, COO, PhindMe

and  Monica Gursky, Interactive Art Director, I-Site

are discussing the current state of mobile technology and what new technologies are on the mobile horizon.

Using examples of how their companies coordinated on a project for one of I-Sites’ clients,  Monica Gursky and Doug Bellenger demonstrated the need for design and technology to mesh to build the best mobile experience.  There is not a one sized fits all approach.  The design and experience have to fit both the user, the product and the many different types of mobile devices.

Mobile Design is more than just making it small.  Appropriate navigation style is key. The user experience has to be easy for the user as well as providing the content needed to integrate with your campaigns and promotions.

As devices become something people use every more and more everyday, it is likely we will begin to see less of the “throwaway” apps and will begin to see more and more brands leveraging the mobile medium to develop one to one relationships with their customers.   We will also begin to see more and more targeted and GPS directed marketing via mobile devices.   Opt in text marketing is a valuable option for a company because it gives them unprecedented access to a customer.  Mobile gift cards or coupons are another strong marketing proposition for both the company and the consumer.  The power to have gift cards available without a physical card is a bonus that could significantly influence customer decision making and loyalty.

What is the relationship between my website and my mobile if a company is just getting started?  The answer to that is what is important to the user at the moment of use?   The important information and experience will be different between scenarios sitting in front of a desktop versus standing in the store trying to get information versus being in your car trying to get directions.  Mobile needs to take the later two scenarios into consideration.

The panelists make good points that if you are looking to move your website, product or information to mobile, you need to carefully vet the possible providers.  You need to find a developers who specialize in working with mobile.  They need to not only know how to develop, but also how to do the appropriate testing.

Location based services and commerce is one of the primary places where mobile headed.  Demographics are becoming somewhat irrelevant in the mobile field because of the tremendous growth in the popularity of texting.

Mobile is giving a consumer a choice.  It is allowing a company to communicate with their customers in the method they want to communicated with.  The low cost plans available through mobile carriers are now allowing people who can not afford PC’s or laptops web and texting access.   If a company is not using mobile, they potentially are missing a market that they not reach via just a website.

It is evident based on the questions from the audience and answers from the panelists that mobile is not only the direction of the moment, but also of the future.

I-SITE gets its kicks on Philly’s creative pitch

Keystone Edge, 9/24/2009

Lifelong soccer fan, ergonomist and Englishman Ian Cross started a soccer club based out of Dark Horse Pub in Society Hill a few years after arriving in Philadelphia. When he tore ligaments in his ankle in the mid-1990s, he used his idle recovery time to think about starting his own web design firm.

The result some 13 years later is I-SITE, an award-winning, interactive design and marketing agency. Appropriately, soccer is the theme for I-Site’s home page, which greets visitors with a pictorial how-to on blowing up a soccer ball and features employees in soccer uniforms, a locker room featuring clients and I-SITE’s work, and employee stats on soccer “cards.”

Cross says he wasn’t much of a midfielder in high school, but he’s developed into quite a web design coach. I-SITE has built a reputation of strong individuals forming a talented team that has tackled some interesting projects, most recently a rush-job for NxtUp Philly, a collection of creative people and events in Philadelphia running Oct. 5-16 (including I-SITE’s charity soccer game on Oct. 15 to launch its new website). The project was only formed earlier this summer, but Cross and I-SITE quickly lent their considerable muscle.

“We’re always up for a challenge and we believe in community initiatives,” says Cross. “People who work with us know they’ll get total commitment.”

That has paid off in the form of long-term client relationships, like a 10-year run with the National Dairy Council. Cross, who has no intention of growing I-SITE into a mega-agency, likes being small, limber and feisty, choosing projects that his team can really get behind. I-SITE is anxious to submit to the Apple Store a new application that allows users to follow endangered gorillas in the Congo.

“We have a lot of things people want in an agency,” says Cross. “We know we’re not a fit for everybody and we have no issue with that. The flavor has to be right.”

Blood Feathers on Nat Mechanics Steps

Blood Feathers played a short set today on the steps of National Mechanics to announce the new Philebrity Record label. We aren’t sure starting a record label in this day and age is the smartest move but hey at least some cool music might come out of it.

All Tomorrow’s Parties Part 1

Well we are obviously back from out company retreat up to the the Catskills for the All Tomorrow’s Parties concert. We all seem to agree that it was one of the best concerts we have ever been to. Not just because of the bands (they aren’t for everyone) but mostly because of the venue. Held at a country club that hadn’t been updated since 1965 and with only 1000 people max it was well worth it and I recommend you try to go one of these years. No lines for anything, no issues getting right up front seeing the band you wanted to see and an overall relaxed environment. Here are a few pics and a Panda Bear clip from the show. More to come in the following days.

I-SITE is heading to All Tomorrow’s Parties!!! New Mix is Up!!!

Our annual company retreat is coming up this weekend and this year we are heading to the All Tomorrow’s Parties concert in NY. Check out the new mix – HEREATP

All Tomorrow’s Parties is an organisation based in London that has been promoting festivals and concerts throughout the world for around ten years. It was founded by Barry Hogan in 1999 in preparation for the first All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, the line-up of which was curated by Mogwai and took place in the unusual setting of Pontins Holiday Camp, Camber Sands.

Since then the festival has appeared every year, and continues to set itself apart from festivals like Reading or Glastonbury by staying intimate, non-corporate and fan-friendly. Another vital difference is that the line-ups are chosen by significant bands or artists, resulting in unpredictable and exciting events which combine performances by legendary and influential acts with appearances by the latest crop of experimental artists from any (and every) musical genre. excel recover-unsaved-files mac office 365 The All Tomorrow’s Parties festival has become more successful with every passing year, moving in 2006 to a larger holiday camp. It has taken place in the UK, USA and Australia, and has been curated by the following artists:

The Breeders, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Mike Patton & Melvins, My Bloody Valentine, Explosions In The Sky, Pitchfork Media, Portishead, Dirty Three, Sonic Youth, The Shins, Sleater Kinney, Dinosaur Jr., Devendra Banhart, Mudhoney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Mars Volta, Vincent Gallo, Slint, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Stephen Malkmus, Mogwai, Tortoise, Shellac, Autechre, Modest Mouse, and Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening.
